Chairman – Nicholas Rogers
Nicholas is the founder and chairman of TEDxKingstonUponThames. A long-time TED fan, the idea to organise a local event in Kingston came to Nick on the train to work one day. Nick is passionate about new ideas and about finding innovative ways to build stronger communities.
A former borough councillor, Nick is an experienced campaigner who sometimes can’t leave well enough alone. He runs a Little Free Library on the Alpha Road Estate where he lives. Nick is also a writer and has been published most recently in Avaunt Magazine. Nick’s day job is as an Incident Controller with Network Rail.
Marketing and Event Manager – Liam Rogers
Liam Rogers is an award winning photographer, filmmaker and event professional. He has screened films internationally and photographed professionally in Italy, France and the USA. Liam has successfully event managed and organised big events from conferences, awards shows, art openings and film shoots.
Liam is a big fan of TEDx because it gives interesting people a platform to share their passions, which can be very infectious.
Curator – Gavin Jones
With a background in credit management and risk, Gavin has worked for some of the leading companies in the fields of technology distribution, healthcare and corporate performance.
Having spent his formative years split between China, France and the UK, Gavin believes that TED’s mission to spread positive ideas on a global scale is a platform for building a more connected, innovative and ultimately better world.
As Curator, Gavin is privileged to witness some amazing and passionate talks and, when choosing speakers, is looking for a WOW factor that will stay with attendees long after they have left the event.
Speaker Coach – Tara Majumdar
Tara is a huge fan of TED and TEDx events and is very excited to be a part of TEDx Kingston.As the speaker coach, Tara guides the selected speakers in getting their message across effectively. She feels privileged to accompany them on their journey towards making an impact and leaving an indelible impression in the minds of their listeners.
She is an award winning speaker and has been working as a communication and presentation skills trainer for over a decade.She is passionate about cultures, communities and connecting people. Travelling the world, learning languages and cooking with friends are her hobbies.
Finance and Partnerships Manager – Thomas Prince
Thomas is a huge fan of TED and joined our committee in 2016 with a focus on financial management, as well as working with our valued sponsors to ensure they are able successfully contribute to each event.
An established entrepreneur, digital marketing professional and public speaker, Thomas is currently managing a fast-growing marketing agency in Surbiton.
Social Media Lead – Georgie Gayler
With over 8 years of experience, including major theme park Chessington World of Adventures Resort, Action for Children and Oracle, Georgie has extensive experience of social media strategy and content creation, community management and PPC.
Georgie started her own company; LocaSocial in 2016, working with small and local businesses to develop their social media to achieve business success. When she heard about the opportunity to work on TedxKingstonUponThames and join the team, it seemed too good to be true. She’s incredibly excited to be a part of such an exciting and pivotal event within her local area, and work with such inspiring individuals.
Customer Experience Lead – Lizy Blake
Lizy has recently graduated with an MSc in International Security and Global Governance at distinction level and also holds a BA (Hons) in Politics with Creative Writing. An avid writer, she enjoys researching and writing both academic and creative articles and has written on diverse topics from electoral reform, the politics of security, gender & ecology to critiquing restaurants and TV shows. She is currently collaborating with a local band, creating a concept album.
Lizy has been a fan of TED for a number of years and is excited to be part of TEDxKingstonUponThames; she believes the communication of thought provoking ideas, sharing knowledge and the encouraging of discourse at local TEDx events is extremely important for building community cohesion.
